How to set up your Dial Up Networking:

1. From the windows desktop click on the 'Start' button at the bottom left hand corner of your screen

2. Once the 'Start' menu is open, select 'Settings' and then click on 'Control Panel'. The 'Control Panel' window should now be open, double click the 'Internet Options' icon

3. Once the 'Internet Properties' window is open, click on the 'Connections' tab, click on the 'Add' button

For Win 95/98/ME users:

i) Enter 'Tiscali' as the name of the connection and check that the correct modem is selected. Click Next

ii) Enter the relevant telephone number for your package, and ensure that the country id (UK [44]) is selected. Click Next then Click Finish

For Win2000/XP users

i) Select Dial up to Private Network. Click Next

ii) Enter the relevant phone number for your package. Click Next

iii) Select 'For Myself only' where applicable. Click Next.

iv) Enter the name as 'Tiscali'. Click Finish

4. Highlight the 'Tiscali' connection by left clicking on it once, put a dot in the 'Always dial my default connection' box and click 'Set as Default'. Now, click on the Settings button and enter your username and password in the boxes provided then click on the Properties button.

or Win95/98/ME users:

i) On the General tab make sure the 'Area code' box does not have a tick in it, by clicking on it once (if necessary), Check that the number entered is valid for your package.

ii) Select the Server types tab (or Networking tab in WinME) and ensure that only 'TCP/IP' is ticked. Click OK.

For Win ME/2k/XP users:

i) On the General tab make sure the 'Area code' box does not have a tick in it, by clicking on it once (if necessary). Check that the number entered is valid for your package.

ii) Select the Networking tab and click on the Settings button and untick the 'Enable Software Compression' check box.

5. Click Apply.

6. Click OK until the Control Panel can be closed
